Mission Statement
We pledge to help students by building on their strengths and addressing their needs. At Denison Middle School, decisions are based on what's best for kids.
Our mission statement is based on these beliefs:
- We believe middle level students have unique characteristics and are in a transitional stage of their development.
- We believe that all students can learn and succeed through a variety of teaching methods and accommodations.
- We believe in a positive, caring, and safe environment.
- We believe in an environment of mutual respect and trust.
- We believe that all students should actively participate in a wide variety of learning experiences.
- We believe in giving the student the opportunity for continual growth in self-discipline, academic responsibility, self-knowledge, social skills, good citizenship, and community awareness.
- We believe in providing a student-centered atmosphere that is motivating and challenging.
- We believe that student success is directly linked to positive self-esteem and parental/home involvement, coupled with high teacher expectations and academic standards.
- We believe that when teachers work together on teams they are better able to meet the needs of students and teachers.
- We believe that meaningful homework is a legitimate extension of the school day.
