Asbestos Information
Asbestos is an issue the Denison District has been dealing with for many years. The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (referred to as AHERA), was enacted by Congress. AHERA was enacted to determine the extent of, and develop solutions for, any problem schools may have with asbestos. Every three years, Denison Community Schools has conducted a reinspection to determine whether the condition of the known or assumed asbestos containing materials (ACBM) has changed and to make recommendations on managing or removing the ACBM. At the last reinspection, all materials listed in the Management Plan as asbestos containing (or assumed to be asbestos-containing) were inspected and found to be in good condition.
A copy of the asbestos management plan is available for your inspection in our administrative offices during regular office hours. We are intent on not only complying with, but exceeding federal, state, and local regulations in this area. We are taking whatever steps are necessary to insure our students and employees have a healthy, safe environment in which to learn and work. Ed Fink is our designated asbestos program coordinator, and all inquiries regarding the asbestos plan and asbestos related issues should be directed to him at 712-263-2176.
